Are jobseekers right in asking ,

Where is the level playing field ?

63 years after Independence, Indian Recruiters are still asking the candidates ,

	What community do you belong to ?

	What does your father do for living ?

	Which is your home state ?

	Why did you divorce ?

	What is your mother tongue ?

	Who is prime minister of Hungary ?

Jobseekers are wondering :

" Does my work-performance in this Organization depend

upon what my answers are ? "

Am I just exaggerating ? Has anyone experienced similar

irrelevant questions ?

Do questions get " tailored " according to the candidate

sitting in front of the Recruiters ?

And what questions are Recruiters elsewhere asking ?

With regards

Veronica,
that's a good article. And some very useful tips. Many might not even realize how important their appearance or a proper introduction is.

As compared to a jobseeker writing her own resume, a resume written by a professional expert resume-writer would any day prove better.

But

Before sending that well-written resume to a recruiter, can a jobseeker figure-out in advance what would happen if that resume

	gets " rated / ranked / scored " by recruiter ?

	gets compared automatically with resumes of other applicants ?

Will she get an interview-call ?

To know what is likely to happen , she has to just type "Resume Rater" in Google / Yahoo / Bing , and download this software tool ( free and without even login ) from any of the 35+ websites. Then rate her resume.

Resume Rater mimics the " resume-evaluation " process of recruiters’ minds but does it in an unbiased / objective way.
Resume Rater is absolutely non – discriminatory.

There was a time when jobseekers pored over the " Recruitment / Hiring " sections of newspapers, searching for suitable jobs, for hours-on-end.

Then, with the arrival of internet , came job-portals, which were amongst the earliest websites.

Whereas considerable refinements have taken place in respect of resume-posting and resume-searching, job-searches have largely remained the same – with the jobseekers having to spend an enormous amount of time online.

I have tried to simplify and speed-up job-searches thru Magic Cube Job-Search on www.CustomizeResume.com

No “ Rocket – Science “ this !

One of these days, someone is bound to come-up with even better " Geodesic Job – Search" which will have jobs listed on hundreds of faces against only 3 faces of Magic Cube – till someone cleverer makes job-search obsolete thru a personal job-search agent !

UNEMPLOYMENT REMAINING BALANCE CONFLICTS WITH BENEFIT YEAR ENDING (IL)?
Someone please help! I am pretty confused. I have been on my regular unemployment insurance since August 21, 2009. My last "Debit Card Benefit Payment Explanation" statement that comes in the mail every time I do Teleserve says:

"your entitlement to regular unemployment insurance will exhaust in the near future. as a result of recent legislation covering unemployment extensions, we will be evaluating your claim. we will notify you within two weeks following the exhaustion of your current claim about your eligibility for additional benefits. There is no need to contact your local office at this time. you can check your current balance by calling Teleserve & selecting option 3, claim status."

I did this. It says I have a remainder of $831.00, BUT, it says that my Benefit Year Ending date isn't until August 22, 2010. First off why is my balance lower than a typical month? And why, if my Year Ending date is August 2010, would my balance be $831.00? What does this all mean? And has anyone experiences this recently?

Question: I had originally been told by 4 different IDES employees that I was eligible for an extention last fall in which I then certified and received 2 payments. I then was told that I was not eligible and that I needed to pay back the money. I agree that I was probably not eligible but my issue is that why should I have to pay them back when 4 of their employees told me I was eligible???? I filed an appeal but I need to know what to do to fight the repayment (the appeal is only to determine if you're eligible or not and that is not my issue here). Does anyone know?

AMEN. You hit the nail on the head. After one year of sending out resumes, did not even get one phone interview. Fit the job description, got 20 years of experience, and I don't even get a phone call. What's wrong with this picture?
HR people wake up and do the job you were hired for.

To hiring personnel and recruiters:

Please tell me where the black hole is. I'd like to retrieve the 798 copies of my resume. Wonder why you get bombarded with 500 resumes for every job you post? Because after a job-seeker diligently screens out only the jobs they are 100% qualified for, spends an hour carefully crafting the perfect cover letter, spends another hour cutting and pasting their resume into your stupid online application system, and then doesn't receive so much as a email follow up from you, they realize they have about as much luck hitting a bullseye if they start blindly throwing a million darts at a dart board. In other words, start responding to qualified candidates and maybe people won't be thrown into desperation mode, applying for any and all jobs.

This, however, does not excuse you for not returning the phone calls and emails of those who reach out to you for status. You created the unprofessional climate that caused the clusterfuck in your inbox.

And, for the love of all that is holy, is it too much to ask that you follow up with *some* kind of communication for those lucky people who actually make it into an interview with you? A simple "thanks, but no thanks" will do. It is just downright cruel to keep people wondering for weeks on end what the outcome of their interview was.
